VV Ultimatum Beginner Guide โ€” Soul Reaper Starter Path

Starting VV Ultimatum can feel overwhelming. There are multiple races, systems, quests, and combat mechanics happening at once. If you understand the early flow properly, you will avoid most of the common mistakes that slow players down.

Choose Your Race (Don't Overthink Too Much)

At the start, you can choose between:

  • Soul Reapers
  • Hollows
  • Quincies

Soul Reaper is the most common starting path, but all races are viable. Early progression speed depends more on how you play than your choice.

๐Ÿ‘‰ If you're unsure, just start and learn systems first. You can optimize later.

Don't Skip the Tutorial Boss

At the end of the tutorial, you will fight a boss that many players ignore.

Defeating it is important because it drops Intelligence Extract, which is used later for unlocking skill reset systems.

If you skip it, you will regret it at higher levels when resets become expensive.

Early Leveling (Lv 1โ€“25)

Your main focus early game is simple:

  • Accept quests (press C)
  • Complete side quests whenever available
  • Do not rely only on main story missions

Main quests alone are not enough to level efficiently.

Core Combat Basics

Combat in VV Ultimatum is not just about damage. It is about reactions.

  • Parry โ†’ block front-facing attacks
  • Dodge โ†’ avoid red-marked danger attacks
  • Counter (F key) โ†’ triggers posture damage and openings

๐Ÿ‘‰ You don't need to master everything immediately. Focus on surviving first.

Shikai Progression (Starts at Lv 25)

At Level 25, you begin your Shikai progression journey.

This system is not instant. It requires repetition:

  • Fight mobs
  • Trigger "Whispers"
  • Meditate using L key
  • Enter inner world challenges

If you ignore whispers and keep fighting, your progression can stall.

๐Ÿ‘‰ When whispers appear, always stop and meditate.

Shikai Unlock Fight

Eventually, you will face a multi-phase inner world boss fight.

It is difficult for solo players, so bringing a teammate makes it much easier.

Even after unlocking Shikai, you still need additional meditation to fully unlock all abilities.

Important Mechanics You Must Learn

๐Ÿง  Kanji Crit

After a parry or dodge, you can perform a critical attack.

Red Kanji indicates a strong punish window where opponents cannot block.

โšก Z-Step Combo

Core combo extension mechanic:

  • Knockback enemy
  • Use skill
  • Press Q to teleport and continue pressure

This is one of the most important PvP tools in the game.

๐Ÿ›ก Parry System

  • Must face opponent directly
  • Not 360ยฐ protection
  • Green parries are stronger than orange ones
  • Builds posture pressure quickly

Build & Progression Systems

๐Ÿงฌ Clans

Mostly small stat bonuses and cosmetic differences. Not critical for beginners.

๐Ÿงท Spirit Charms

Key part of builds.

  • Found through portals
  • Can be removed for free
  • Slot limits matter (overload = HP loss)

โš ๏ธ Dangerous Tasks

Turn this off if you don't want other players invading your missions.

Early Game Flow (What You Should Actually Do)

Your early progression should look like this:

  • Plan your build early (optional but helpful)
  • Complete tutorial properly
  • Farm quests from Lv 1โ€“25
  • Unlock Shikai at Lv 25
  • Respond to whispers immediately
  • Learn parry + dodge timing
  • Start using Z-Step combos in fights

Final Advice

VV Ultimatum rewards players who understand systems, not just mechanics.

If you follow quests properly, respect progression triggers like whispers, and learn basic combat timing early, your entire mid-game becomes much smoother.
