VV Ultimatum PvP Guide — Win Fights, Counters & Combat Tips

PvP in VV Ultimatum isn't about spamming skills and hoping for the best. Most fights are decided by a few small decisions—landing a parry, dodging at the right moment, or knowing when to stop a combo and reset.

If you're losing duels, these mechanics are usually the reason.

Kanji Crit

After a successful parry, you can immediately throw out a Crit for a big punish. New players often eat the full hit, but experienced players know it's coming.

If you're using something like the Katana, don't always throw the Crit instantly. Delay it or bait a reaction first. Once your opponent starts guessing, landing damage becomes much easier.

Timed Slash

Don't rush the charge.

Wait until the bar is almost full before clicking. A perfect release gives the highest score, but trying to force perfect timing every time usually leads to mistakes.

Most players are better off hitting the safe timing consistently than chasing perfect execution.

Flash Step Is More Than a Dodge

Flash Step isn't just an escape button.

Use it to get behind your opponent and attack immediately. If you're standing in front of them, they still have a chance to parry. If you're already behind them, that option is gone.

A lot of PvP wins come from movement instead of raw damage.

Grounded Combos

Some skills knock players to the ground, which normally ends the combo.

But a few abilities can still connect while they're grounded. Speed builds can use the air version of Vortex Edge to keep pressure going and squeeze out extra damage before the opponent recovers.

Knowing these interactions is what separates longer combos from dropped ones.

Z-Step Pressure

Whenever you land a knockback or Crit, you can Z-Step and teleport right back onto your target.

A common Speed combo looks like this:

Compound Slash → Air Vortex Edge → Z-Step → Finish the combo

It feels strong, but don't get predictable.

If you always Z-Step in the same spot, experienced players will wait for it and counter you immediately.

Read the Player, Not Just the Combo

The biggest difference between average players and good players isn't mechanics.

It's recognizing patterns.

If someone always blocks after a dash, punish it.

If they always Z-Step after a knockback, counter it.

If they panic dodge every time you get close, chase instead of swinging.

Learning how real players react will win you far more fights than memorizing another combo route.
