Defense & Movement: Master the Parry
The most important thing to know about Gelum is that you cannot just hold block.
- Parry is King: Gelum will easily break your guard if you standard-block his heavy hits. Focus on timing your blocks to get Perfect Parries instead.
- The Entrance Strategy: As soon as you walk into the boss room, Gelum will do a massive initial landing slam. Don't freeze up—sprint straight forward immediately to run right past the danger zone.
- Dodge the Ultimate: When Gelum winds up his massive AoE frost ultimate, you will see a bright red indicator circle on the ground. Do not try to block this. Use your Q Dash to quickly escape the red zone.
Offense: When to Attack and When to Back Off
Mindless button-mashing will get you killed quickly. Use this disciplined approach to shred his health pool:
- Stick to M1s: During the normal phases of the fight, stick to your basic M1 attacks to chip away at his health.
- Save Heavy Attacks for Guard Breaks: Only use your Heavy Attack when you successfully Guard Break Gelum. If you use it randomly, he will punish you during your slow animation.
- The Teleport Trick: Gelum loves to teleport around. If he blinks away, keep swinging your M1s in the air! He will very often teleport right back into your active attack path and take free damage.
- Watch Out for Reduced Damage: Later in the fight, Gelum will enter a phase where he takes significantly reduced damage. Do not panic when your numbers drop—just stay patient and keep playing safely.
The Finish Line
When either you or Gelum are low on health, the tension goes up.
- Create Distance: If your health dips into the danger zone, back off and create distance. Wait for a clean opening rather than rushing in blindly.
